Erin Grindstaff Graphic Designer, IT
www.tinyxl.comAs a young child, Erin spent her summers in the remote mountains of northern Idaho giving her much time to ponder life. Winters were spent in Alaska, giving her time to ponder life in sunnier places. She received her BFA in Graphic Design from the California College of Arts and Crafts. Erin's career thus far ranges from the role of production manager and graphic designer at an alternative weekly newspaper in Alaska to concepting for international ad campaigns at Goodby, Silverstein and Partners in San Francisco. Erin is currently a freelance graphic designer experiencing the "Midwest nice" in Omaha, Nebraska.
Jonathan Grindstaff Technology Coordinator
www.bashhacker.comFirst and foremost Jonathan Grindstaff is a scientist. His work with the South Yorkshire Trading Standards Unit in 2002 resulted in the creation of the worlds most accurate commercial liquid density measurement system. He designed software and hardware for the liquid density lab. He led the installation process, wrote procedures with the Senior Laboratory Technician and trained technicians on site.
In 2007, Jonathan and Lee Pembleton jointly created www.Portal5.org, the fifth portal in the 23 Entryways Into My Mind series (of which 23E Studios and Disembody are Portal 6). Jonathan wrote a series of scripts that capture and send a display of the screens from Lee's three computers to owners of Portal5.org, who see, in real time, everything that is happening on all of Lee's computers.
Most recently, Jonathan created the scripts that allow the Internet Archive's Digital Tipping Point Video Collection to load rapidly, and which automate the process of managing their vast, multi-terabyte store of digital video files. Of his work on that project the curator of the DTP collection on the Internet Archive wrote: "Without Jonathan's muscle, we never would have been able to manage this much video. Period."
David Gurman Contractor
www.davidgurman.comDavid Gurman is an Artist working and living in San Francisco, CA. Gurman recently received the Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship. He received his MFA from CCA in 2007 and is currently an Artist in Residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts.
David Gurman makes evolving mechanized spaces where the mechanism presents a view of the changing rhythm of the earth we are shaping. The installations monitor human influence on remote landscapes. The goal is to connect the installation to obscure sites of malignant institutional land use. Gurman uses real-time data feeds such as tidal patterns, seismic data, and satellite imagery to create a real-time experience of the remote activity for the viewer. The installation is intended to be meditative and pleasurable, which belies the darker underbelly of the driving mechanism: for example in one work light waves rippling across a wall were triggered by real gun shots and IED explosions in Iraq, while in another work, a bell tolled according to seismic data from sub-critical nuclear weapons tests in the Nevada dessert.

Carol Anne McChrystal (b. 1982) graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with degrees in studio art and gender studies. Her primary interests lie in the realm of understanding how we organize knowledge as well as the limitations/possibilities of those structures. As one half of the San Francisco based collaborative project Nightmare City, her videos, installations, and performances look simultaneously forward and backward in time using the obsolete, out-moded and idle to examine what endless repetition can do to the sentiment of cultural movements. She is the author of "Cliffs Notes on Art School Rhetoric," and "You Have No Power You Have No Power," which both investigate the relationship between theory and the practice of contemporary art.
