Touched, indeed

For starters let me say, Damn I wish google wave was launched a year and a half ago, it is very much what I wanted for Disembody. Two years in the making at Google by the team that built google maps. Obviously Jonny could have built it for me if he’d really cared!

So, another day another mix of SPP4. We’re getting really close, basically tweaking the finer points of the doublebass and piano. For this recording we used a great studio, with awesome separation (by our standards), but we do have bleed from the piano and rhodes in the doublebass mic. That’s requiring a good deal of finessing. In the past we had no separation on mics, and that made mixing easier, as we had far fewer options. With these really clean tracks I can do a lot more in the mix, and the final record will sound a lot better. But having bleed in just one mic (out of 19), and unfortunately one of the most important mics, introduces a world of conflicts. Very time consuming. OTOH, I’m learning a ton about mixing and EQing and balance and the like.

I updated my photos and resume at IMDB today. I think I will be able to get work as an extra in scenes in biker bars and insane asylums now.

Tonight, more updates on vime. And recording my backing tracks for Copy Lake.

A possible design for the ceiling

We have our Flickr account up. Here you can check out photos Amy and I took when we measured Fringe for the contractors and architect. We also have up some designs by Carol-Anne and Keturah that they are considering for the theater’s ceiling.

And they scanned in the polaroids from their trip down to L.A. to peruse the space with me.

Also today, I submitted Disembody to IMDB. Fingers crossed. We’re a legit documentary/art film, so I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t list us, but I do fear the “general public interest” clause, because we don’t have a distributor, yet.

Regardless, it’s another step in the direction we need to be going.

Oh my heck, and how can I forget, we received a very strange investment yesterday. An old friend who heard about the project is investing the proceeds from the sale of an antique book in us. It’s a Dutch medical manual from 1642. It’s been repaired once, so, though the condition is pristine, it’s not a top tier item for auction. But, still, we might get a couple thousand dollars out of it.

The catch is I have to sell it. Which is kind of like the project over all.

Yeah, like you all care, but I disappeared and stopped working on Disembody for a few days while I focussed exclusively on my thesis, so…

Today we got the paperwork in to the Hollywood Reporter about the movie.

My imdb resume is online now.

I may pop for a photo. It’s an extra $30, but…
wouldn’t it be nice to have production shots?

Got a call from Jonny today. He pointed out that I need to LLC 23E Studios. SO that’s on the list now.
He also encouraged em to get him and Erin the info they need for the website.
We are rapidly approaching our shoot dates people!

Not much else to report.

Still no architect. Fucking amazing. I need to put Lockhart on finding a set designer.
