FILM ON FILM #33: Film as Mourning
May 31, 2008
I surrender at the frontier
Of dawn
A re-discovered love letter for instance
My understanding of his ghost goes thus:
Her box is being opened again
A kind of courage only happens in the opera
I discover but then I escape
Escape from the shadows of unknown memories
Grayer than gray
Grayer yet than November
I’ve had the afternoon tea for hours
Sitting still like a mysterious sculpture
Or, I happen to be that mysterious one
Birth (Jonathan Glazer, 2004)
