Little Wonder

I like to think that Skye’s first act after stepping down as director was to secretly direct the film anyway.

His suggestion, which I ran by the crew over the past few days and they all loved as much as I do, was to drop the term “director”. Given that the “director” was not actually going to be directing so much as simply coordinating between different people, trying to provide an overview for disparate sections, Skye suggested we abandon the idea of directing. And instead, each day when we show dailies, the entire crew can offer feedback on the cinematography and editing and development.

I think this idea is actually perfect. It brings the film more closely in line with the installation. And it allows every crew member, as well as guests to the gallery, the opportunity to offer their insights into what is developing. It is also means that the people I brought in for their skills, the editors and cinematographers, get to fully explore those skills.

So, I’m really excited about that idea.
